TransACT and the National Broadband Network

TransACT shares the Australian Government’s vision for a National Broadband Network (NBN) that will service Australia into the future through the use of the latest fibre, wireless and satellite technologies.

As a company with extensive fibre-based networks in the ACT and regional Victoria, TransACT is well positioned to play a significant role in the delivery of high-speed fibre broadband to Australians.

TransACT is experienced in delivering efficient and cost-effective Fibre-to-the-Premise (FTTP) solutions and has been the only provider deploying FTTP successfully to Greenfield estates in the ACT since 2006, with up to 16,500 premises now under contract.

As well as deploying new fibre networks, TransACT continues to improve its existing networks to deliver leading-edge telecommunications products and services to its customers.

In regional Victoria, TransACT recently upgraded its Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) cable networks in Geelong, Ballarat and Mildura to DOCSIS 3 standards delivering the fastest broadband in the region with speeds up to 100Mbps.

In the ACT, TransACT is upgrading its Very-high-speed Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL) network to VDSL2, already delivering up to 30Mpbs broadband services to TransACT customers, with increases to 60Mpbs planned.

TransACT welcomes the new market and product opportunities that the NBN will deliver. Similar to other service providers, TransACT has become a Retail Service Provider (RSP) on the NBN complementary to its own networks in both Victoria and the ACT.

TransACT’s history and experience in delivering FTTP voice, video and ISP services to customers ensures TransACT is well placed to continue providing leading-edge FTTP services as an RSP.

TransACT is working closely with the National Broadband Network company (NBN Co) and the Government on the NBN rollout and will continue to do so to facilitate the delivery of high-speed broadband to all Australians.

TransACT currently supplies telecommunication services to more than 50 federal and state government agencies, 150,000 product customers and 5,000 small to medium enterprises.

As a full service telecommunications provider, TransACT services include state-of-the-art broadband, fixed line telephony, mobile phone solutions, data centre services, Subscription TV and Video on Demand.
