Do I need to change my phone number if I subscribe for TransTALK phone services?

You can transfer your existing phone number to TransACT but if you relocate out of your current exchange, you will not be able to transfer your number to the new exchange.

You can choose a new TransACT phone number that you can then take with you to any new premise where TransTALK phone services are available.

Do I need a phone line to get TransTALK?

If your home or business premise is located in a TransACT-cabled area you do not need a phone line. TransACT provide the cables to your home or business premises.

You will require an existing phone line to connect to TransACT's services if you live outside a TransACT cabled area. Depending on your area you may be able to access phone and broadband services or TransTALK Flex phone services only.

If you are unclear on whether you will require a phone line to connect to TransACT, call 13 30 61 and select option one.

Does TransACT provide me with a phone handset?

TransACT does not provide phone handsets. Please visit your local electronics or telecommunications retailer to purchase a handset.

Can I rent a phone handset from TransACT?

TransACT does not rent fixed-line phone handsets. Please visit your local electronics or telecommunications retailer to purchase a handset.

How much does it cost to call other TransACT subscribers?

Local calls between TransTALK and TransBIZ subscribers are free. Local calls are those made to or from the (02) 61- or (02) 62- number range. All other local call charges vary between plans. TransSELECT customers will need to check with their local call provider for local call rates.

How much do international calls cost?

International call charges vary depending on the TransACT service you subscribe to.

Does TransACT offer capped calls?

Yes, TransACT offers capped calls on certain phone plans.

Can I use phone cards with TransTALK?

TransACT supports the use of pre-paid calling cards. Customers can make outbound calls and send faxes. The access granted to the customer depends on the phone card supplier.

TransACT does not support the use of post-paid calling cards. TransACT does not support pre-paid payphone cards designed for use with payphones.

To use a pre-paid calling card, follow the instructions provided by the phone card supplier. This will generally involve calling an access number, providing a PIN and then entering the phone number the caller wishes to call. There are no additional steps required by TransACT to use a pre-paid calling card on the TransACT network.

Over-ride numbers don't work on the TransACT network.

How much does TalkNUMBERS/FaxNUMBER and TalkMAIL cost?

TalkNUMBERS/FaxNUMBER cost $5.50 per month.

TalkMAIL costs $5.50 per month.

Please note - these features are only available to TransTALK Premium, TransTALK AllTime and TransBIZ 1 customers.

How do I use Call Waiting, Call Forwarding, Three-Way Calling, Caller Number Display, TalkNUMBERS/FaxNUMBER and TalkMAIL?

Can I keep using my current telecommunications provider if I subscribe to TransSELECT?

Yes, when using TransSELECT or TransSELECT GOLD you can retain your contract with your current telecommunications provider for local calls.

Troubleshooting for TransTALK services.

If you have no dial tone

  1. Unplug all phone handsets and other communication equipment including fax machines, answering machines, dial-up modems, double adapters, extension leads and back-to-base alarms from the phone sockets.
  2. Once all phone handsets and communication equipment are unplugged, plug in one phone handset at a time and see if you get dial tone.
